The Picture House

All that remains of this lovely old cinema is the outside upper storey facade. Sadly below a daily horror film now plays out, in the form of an American burger, fries and shakes place- peddling fast food of the worst kind, or, as I say, "Golden arches = hardened arteries."

For a weekly compilation of all kinds of signs from blogs around the world see: http://signs2.blogspot.com/

  2. As a lover of the cinema I am always a little saddened to see one closed. I try to avoid the modern multiplex version. Personally I do not mind the odd burger, also they are good place for wifi and a clean loo. That said I do try to use smaller local places for preference.

  4. How sad! It looks like a beautiful art deco style building.

  5. Oh no Chrissy, what a shame, it looks like it would have been a wonderful art deco style cinema. I guess it must happen because not enough people use it, I really hope we manage to hold onto our three that we have left in Perth..

  7. The signage was certainly built to last, pity the cinema didn't.

  9. Wonderful picture though. Over here various such cinemas did close during the last year. Once I heard, that what one has seen last for ever, in comparison of what one did eat.

    Please have a kind Thursday.

  10. It is the same story around the world...so many wonderful old cinemas are being torn down or "reused" in other, less satisfactory ways. The cineplexes have killed them!
