Manchester Cathedral in the distance is surrounded by buildings from medieval times and, of course, the 19th Century. Even though the few trees in the area are still in bloom and showing news signs of life, they too must be fairly mature.
I wonder if there are any other cathedrals so surrounded by pubs? Manchester has The Mitre Hotel and Pub, built in 1815 (on the left here and originally for a Bishop presumably), The Old Wellington (timber framed in photo, first built in 1552), Sinclair's Oyster Bar and at least two others within 100 feet or so...
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is soooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you and yours.
Well, the reverends would need a pint after a long sermon, after all.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blossoms!
Go to church and then to the pub!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought, mainland Europe. Pretty hidden gem. Places of worship do tend to go hand it hand, church for some, pub for others.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful composition and such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteMan, your "revolution" theme is turning out to be a very difficult challenge. Getting a so-so image is easy, but getting a good one is very, very hard.
Glad that revolution is getting people engaged, hopefully not enraged...
