Timperley Thatch, a new Dickens creation?

A thatch-roofed house on the outskirts of Timperley. The title for my photo, Timperley Thatch, also sounds like a potential Charles Dickens' character to me. With 2012 being the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens' birth, it seems an appropriate little homage. Linked to the Rural Thursday blog.

Meanwhile, back in the modern world, my second guest post on my time at the London Olympics is now up at Smitten by Britain, and is titled Olympics for All!

  1. That's not a house - it's an estate!! :)

  2. Is it me or is the front bit a more recent addition, does not look quite right to me. I do like the whole place though.

    1. Yes, I am sure the front part with those arches must be more recent Paul. It's not in the traditional English country cottage style like the rest of it, is it?

  3. A lovely structure -- interesting to see a thatch roof on a brick home like this. :) Thanks for sharing at Rural Thursdays, Chrissy.

  10. It's the way you've shown the image that gives it it's Dickens feel Chrissy, nice work, and I enjoyed your guest spot on Smitten by Britain..I've enjoyed all of them, well done. It's always interesting to read about the Olympic spectacle by someone from the host city.

  12. I was born and brought up in Timperley and I don't recognise this house, but then it's been many years since I last went there! It's certainly a good advert for Timperley.

  13. Oh dear, the porch looks so out of place, red brick would have been fine but not stone, your photo flatters it I am sure Chrissy! I see Timperley Thatch looking like Boris Johnson on a bad hair day............
