Monday Murals: Purple with rage?

The street art at Stevenson Square seems to change more quickly than I can keep up with. This large purple faced man has since been painted over and next Monday I shall show what replaced it. I didn't like this work of art at first, probably due to the clash of colours, but it later grew on me, and now it is gone!

    1. Am sure there will be a football mural at City to mark yesterday, if not at Utd. City parade through the streets this evening-so will see if anyone paints the town red, I mean blue

  2. It is an interesting one - strange choice of color I think. Will be interesting to see what replaced it!

  8. There's a lot of nuanced shading in this piece. Pity it's already gone. Is it understood that your art is not likely to last on the Square? It must make each walk through the square a trip of discovery. I'm glad you got a picture to share with us. Thanks for participating in this week's Monday Mural.

    1. I am not sure how it exactly worksm but there are about 6 spaces around there that are obviously managed. Artists exhibit for a couple of months it seems, in the knowledge that their work will be replaced by another artist's at the end of that period.

  10. I think I would need some time for it to grow on me as well. My first impression is not so strong, but I do like the colors.

  12. I have that reaction to public art sometimes too, and then it goes just as I'm getting used to it. I like these colors too, and the somewhat disdainful expression.

  15. It's very interesting to read the different impressions of this mural. Without knowing the context I see only a sad suffering face, but hauntingly painted. No rage. But what a lot of work just to have it painted over. You've saved the image for posterity. And I like the POV you're showing with the surrounding colours.

  17. I like Space Race better ... not sure what it is about the current one that puts me off a bit, but it is street art and worth featuring for sure.
