Following the Moroccan markets earlier in the month, we now have the slightly bizarre (by local standards) but welcome sight of a Tunisian Bazaar in the 18th century English square of St. Ann.
The Tunisian Treasures Market runs until the 27th May. You can browse items handcrafted by Tunisian artisans, from ceramics to tiles, terracotta lamps, drums and slippers. Olive wood ornaments, glassware, jewellery, carpets and spices are also on sale. A calligrapher is on site showing off her skills, whilst the Medina Bedouin tent serves mint tea,Tunisian coffee, some nice salads and patisseries too.
To me there seems more of a buzz about the Tunisian market than the Moroccan market, but perhaps that's due to the arrival of some overdue sunny days of 24°C all this week.
Linked to this week's Midweek Blues.
This is an elegant bazaar and your picture is wonderful, that door is also magnificent!

Same weather in Haninge, but no bazaar!
ReplyDeletesuch a colorful market place! enjoy your nice weather :)
ReplyDeletewhat time is it there until?
ReplyDeleteIt is on until 27th May. Timings seem to be very erratic. I have been 4 times and it has been closed at 10am, not yet open at 2pm and closing down at 5pm. Lunchtimes are best I imagine and if they have any commerical nous they would open from 11 to 8, especially as we have a week of 24C to 26C...
DeleteThis is really cool! Love markets.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to get that kind of variety in your markets!
ReplyDeleteWonderful colors! I'd love to have a market like that here :)
ReplyDeleteSo may beautiful rich colors. I bet there is a photo waiting to be taken everywhere you look!
ReplyDeleteYes, there were so many photo opps there Rebecca, I had to really resist posting a whole load of them but wanted to stick to the "one photo a day" ethos of CDP. This one best captured the atmosphere in a dreamy, translucent and exotic way for me!
DeleteWhat a fairy-tale. Wonderful are indeed the colours. Please have a good Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that the unique colours and features of a Tunisian market outside Africa would attract many curious wanderers! I would be one! I just wonder who would organise such an event!
ReplyDeleteso much to see!
ReplyDeletewonderful shot
Hi Chrissy, I like your play on words, "slightly bizarre ... Tunisian Bazaar ."
ReplyDeleteIt IS sort of out of place in the quaint olden setting. Funny. :)
Good on your 24°C. We haven't even been back from London two weeks yet and NOW the good weather comes. We were there for a month visiting our daughter and her family (some of it on my MidWeek Blues) and needed a jacket and umbrella the whole time.
Happy MidWeek Blues,
..
