Day trip to Another Place

Anthony Gormley's Another Place consists of 100 cast iron sculptures on Crosby Beach. It is truly amazing and thought-provoking. It's just an hour's drive from Manchester city centre and a perfect day trip. Although the figures stand strong, the whole scene changes depending on the seasons, the weather and the tides' ebb and flow.

  1. I have seen a few photos from this installation. Amazing is a good word to describe it.

  3. They have been cleaned since I saw them. They were all covered in corrosion - this was 2 years ago.

  4. They have been on Sola beach, very close to the airport.
And we have even many more copies several places around the city.

In the beginning I liked them, later I have seen too many statues, and they are just a copy of the artist.... so the artist is a very good businessman, and the art costed a fortune from our tax money as well as from local trade people who gave money to the project.

I wish more artist could have had their art around. Different art. Not only just the same.... Sorry to sound so negative, but as I said on the beach they were just fantastic!

  5. To me they are clutter.

I remember the beach before the statues and the dreadful wind turbines.

    It was better, just nature.
