Monday Murals: Latest cycle on Stevenson Square

The street art on Stevenson Square, renewed every three months, is bold and primary for summer. The good thing is that if you don't like the current cycle, you know it will be replaced. I have mixed feelings about the current theme- I do like the colour scheme and the bicycle though. Linked to Monday Murals at the Oakland Daily Photo blog.

My Smitten by Britain guest post for this month is titled London’s Austerity Olympics...of 1948.

  1. Finally found it - didn't see the cycle as I looked from t'other side - so I've got the same artwork as you but a totally different shot.

  2. It certainly brightens up the street. "smitten by Britain" is such a cool name.

  7. I agree with you that I am also not sure about the current theme, but I also like the colors they used and especially the bike! I love bikes

  9. Great bike! Appropriate too, given the Tour de France is currently underway!

  10. Seems from the comments that all are in agreement . . . the bike is great, but the rest . . . who knows!??

  11. I like it visually but not a big fan of the words.

  12. I too like the bright colour and the bike theme, no tacks though.

  13. I think I agree too, I like the color palette and the bike but as for the rest - I think it falls quite a bit short of exciting.

  15. Urban beauty. Very rare that you would see a bike over here. Please have a good Tuesday.

  16. At first I thought all this was painted on the bus. Duh. The theme is evading me but I don't mind. I like the rhythm of the composition. There's a coherence to the mural that draws your eye across it. All the extra little symbols give a kind of pizazz to the whole. Is the Crim Collective the name of a group that painted it? Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  18. I like it a lot, the colour combination red, white and black always looks good and 'love one another' is certainly a good vibe! I really enjoyed your article on Smitten by Britain, to be honest I think all countries should adhere to the 'austerity' theme, let's face it the money spent on something that lasts for just a few weeks could be well better spent in most countries at the moment. it's about the games, not impressing! I look forward to reading your guest posts, nice work indeed Chrissy.

  19. Really good! At first glance I thought I was looking at art on a passing street car!
