Monday Mural: Up against the wall... @print_and_paste

The current mural up at Print and Paste is titled Self Portrait 1 and is by Jon Bland. I like the way it mirrors passers by, probably without their being aware, on a higher and more spiritual level- floating above the street life of Chester Street and seemingly able to pass through 19th century brick walls like a ghost of workers past.

Have a look at this week's other offerings to the Monday Mural meme.

  2. Thanks for your comment, Chrissy. it's true that there is some controversy regarding European settlers, particularly those who oppressed the Aboriginal population. I don't think any have ever been written out of history but some become a lesson of Australia's past mistakes. Generally, early explorers like James Cook and Joseph Banks are held in high regard by the general population.

  7. Do you think this is a litho? Definitely odd but compelling at the same time. I really like this local art tradition. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

    1. It's plaster cast, expanding foam, duct tape, photocopied mono-prints.

  9. Interesting ... I wonder how many people notice it. I have to say that considering its location, have to wonder if it's depicting people passing by, or ... well, gee ... a corner wall in an alley that someone might using for another purpose ?!?
