Duck in the water


I saw a pair of these on the canal recently and had not noticed their like before. Can anyone help with identification?

    Beautiful never seen one like this before! Even asked someone that knows a lot about wildlife and it was new to them, some sort of crossbreed. The body markings look very similar to those of a 'smew'

    I'm no expert either, but it looks like a female mallard to me.

    No idea. The ducks we have around here don't look like that.
