On Blackfriar's Road in Salford, John Cooper Clarke by Stewy. The legendary Salfordian punk poet is now 65 yet still pretty much looks like this- some achievement. Taking part in the Monday Mural.
the house on nowhere street is one of many JCC poems that I like. Here are two verses from it.

"...the trempling tongues he once enjoyed
talk behind his back
tell me he was self employed
he gave himself the sack
he's on the scrounge in the cocktail lounge
where once he wined and dined
a thousand eyeballs shake him down
from the pale blue bamboo blind
the music will continue
there is no way out
bone muscle and sinew
begin to move about
whip that sucker with a heavy back beat
you gotta be cool to be kind
who haunt the house on nowhere street
with the pale blue bamboo blind..."
He looks like a classic rock person, thought it was John Lennon at first sight.
ReplyDeletevery cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab find Chrissy, was there a link to Stewy's work, I'd love to see more.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, Stewy is from Bristol- have a look at http://stewystencils.tumblr.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/stewy.stencils
DeleteHe looks like a 60s rocker! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHe probably was, and still rockin' the same look today Pat!
DeleteNot met up with John since the 1970s at a gig in Huddersfield.
ReplyDeleteQuite a striking mural! I would have thought Lennon too at first.
ReplyDeleteNeat, I'd say!!! Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Quite contemporary, in a late 20th century sort of way. Wonder what folks will think of this 50 years from now.
ReplyDeleteSo rock and roll. I was thinking Rod Stewart. Thanks for introducing me to JCC. And thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
