This is St. George's Church on Arundel Street, in Hulme (or in Castlefield or the Southern Gateway, depending on how you choose to label the area). Originally built in the 1820s, it lay forlorn and derelict by the 1990s but was then renovated into some magnificent apartments. I was so pleased the chutch was not demolished and it had new life breathed into it as it rose again. Happy Easter everyone.

During its days of dereliction it was sometimes used as a performance venue. I went to one by The People Show. It was a spectacular show in a wonderful space but it was so cold that my friend came down with pneumonia next day.
ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful image here!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you too!
God bless you!

Lovely shot Chrissy. Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteWe have some churches converted into apartments here as well, however, not sure that I would want to live in a "church".
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that the building was saved. I wonder how it would be to live in a church.
ReplyDeleteI bet the apartments are wonderful. This is such a nice spring view.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think apartments are the better use, but whatever, it is wonderful that that magnificent structure has been "resurrected."
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a beautiful environment !
ReplyDeletePlease have a good new week ahead.
Happy Easter to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture! Hope you`ve had a happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteExcellent Spring shot.
ReplyDeleteI agree Chrissy. I used to park beside this church every day for several years in the 1980s and I feared the worst for the landmark building. It's great to see that it has been converted to good use.
