This is the Greenfield War Memorial (1000 ft) at the Pots and Pans stone landmarks above Oldham.
Remembering all the innocent people and animals whose lives have been ruined by war mongers, arms traders and those politicians who broker arms deals to countries such as Saudi Arabia etc.
ABC Wednesday reaches "R".
I've come across this entry a couple of times now... and also here i would like to express that its important to remember... the good and beautiful things the most ofcourse .... but also the bad things to learn from them

Such a beautiful memorial and I love your prospective. If you decide to come see mine I am going to add the link so it doesn't get lost in the bloggyness of my day. http://www.mariasspace.com/2015/11/abc-oh-rats-unlikely-pet-friends.html
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that it still goes on and will do always. As much as people say we learn from past mistakes.. we really don't :(
ReplyDeleteWhether one thinks war is "necessary", it's always hell.

Spent my morning "remembering" at our village's ceremony at the cenotaph. It was a glorious sunny day and when the planes did their fly-past, it was wonderful looking upwards.

I spent yesterday in quiet reflection thinking of all those who have lost their lives in futile wars.
ReplyDeleteI still remember clearly my Grama's tears for her lost son Jack, he was just 20 years of age,
That's quite a remarkable monument, it certainly would make one step back and think!
Di,
