Skywatch Friday at Cross Street junction

On Cross Street the sodium light and the menacing sky can create a dystopian view to my eyes. 19th Century elegance vies with late 20th Century glass and sloped roofed while below in the streets the masses march past, numbed, to the tune of destructive consumerism. The same tune is played, from Manchester to Montreal, Malmo to Mumbai.

A contribution to Skywatch Friday.

  2. Don't be so gloomy Chrissy.

Most people consume less than the average affluent middle class Green simply because they earn less and can't consume as much.

    2. I know hundreds of Greens, from working class and middle class backgrounds and doubt that many of us consume as much as other people in the UK. Agree that those in poverty cannot afford shelter, food, transport and heating- which is something that should be addressed and which Greens are doing. We all need to consume less, whether people are wealthy and affluent or not.

  3. An excellent evening shot- we have an area here that is also a mix of classic architecture and very modern buildings.
