Collecting your thoughts for the day...
Time out at 111 Piccadilly, home to the Polish and Italian consulates and many businesses. A meeting place for people too or a place to prepare the mind for great things in the rest of the day's meetings?...
"Few people think more than two or three times a year; I have made an international reputation for myself by thinking once a week." - George Bernard Shaw. Shaw knew Manchester well and you will be as surprised as me to learn that in 1894 he described Burnage as the prettiest village in Manchester. How times change?
Meanwhile my monthly post for Smitten by Britain is now up- all about Mumbles in south Wales.

Gathering thoughts and a last nicotine fix before entering the fray!
ReplyDeleteNice composition to this one, Chrissy. Were you going along in a car?
ReplyDeleteThx. No Julie, I was standing across the street and up a small incline and zoomed in - but only have a point and shoot Coolpix...
DeleteFrom here I can't judge about Burnage, but I do know that since I retired I don't think I even meet Shaw's 2 or 3 times a year! :D
ReplyDeleteA really super image Chrissy, and once again a brilliant Post for SBB...
ReplyDeleteSBB Grace?
DeleteGreat composition and light.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture dear Chrissy! I like a lot the red sign near the entrance!
ReplyDeleteLéia
I love this sort of photograph. It fits nicely in your daily collection.
ReplyDeleteUrban Fine Art Photography.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Friday.
Now I know where my consulate is up there... Most people I know do not think at all!
ReplyDeleteOne of those quiet daily moments well captured.
ReplyDeleteGBS had some astute observations. During our political season in the U.S. I sure wish people would make a habit of regular thinking. It too often seems to be "rarely or never."
Chrissy, I've posted a photo of a Manchester building on my blog that I'd like you to look at. I feel I should know when and for who it was built, but it's slipped through a grid in my memory. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteOne of my faves too SP: Art Deco, 1933 Met Building, now apartments. I also posted about it last Sept at: http://mancunianwave.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/art-deco-living-at-met.html
DeleteGreat street scenes! I like that the fellow is positioned so he's almost perfectly in line as the next entry in the topiary brigade :)
ReplyDeleteLove that candid photo! It's really good...
ReplyDeleteDobre Bardzo!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the stories Dad used to tell me about the Polish Club in his street, it had a huge white eagle out front, he clearly remembers the handsome Polish officers with their multi cornered hats charming the local ladies of North Staffordshire and smoking their cigarettes on street corners.
i've been tending the Katyn Monument in Cannock a bit this year, made me feel better, same for Dad I think, his generation feels a lot of Guilt about the Poles,
