Gladstone sees the light

I've no knowledge of Prime Minister Gladstone in the 19th Century but the morning light falling on him at this time of year catches my eye. A shame there aren't more statues in Manchester of more modern day notable figures. Having a woman or two immortalised in this fashion wouldn't go amiss either...what a radical idea.

  1. Great idea, could I suggest Eric Cantona?! Love that clear blue sky...

  2. How about a statue of Mrs Thatcher?

She was our first woman PM, striking a real blow for feminism.

She shut lots of coal mines, which was a very green and eco-friendly thing to do.

And if she hadn't scrapped free school milk our children would probably be more obese than they are now.

She was also the PM would allowed all day opening of pubs.

  3. I can't think of a woman depicted in any piece like that here either.
