Stockport Borough Council do a nice line in providing all of their towns with metal "welcome" signs, such as this one. There's nothing like this that I know of in neighbouring boroughs such as Trafford, Manchester Central or Salford et al.

so far as I know a lot of these were put up for the millennium - there are a number of similar ones in Tameside.
