Monday Murals: Painted ladies & their recycled bicycles
I posted this wonderful mural when it was first done back in the autumn of 2011- arty old town. The colourful bicycles were added later. It'll be familiar to most Mancunians but any out-of-towners who watched the final of The Young Apprentice last month will also have seen it flash by.
All a vast improvement from how it used to look, see Dirty old town.

This is a fantastic mural. I love the bikes and their fluorescent colours.
ReplyDeleteGreat mural and I think the added bikes are also useful for the bike parking problem in the netherlands.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. We could do with some of this in Coventry! Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, fun and colorful!
ReplyDeletei love the bikes!
ReplyDeleteWow this looks beautiful, don't know how I've managed to miss this up until now (I must walk around with my eyes shut sometimes I swear!)
ReplyDeleteIt's just down the road from Affleck's Palace opposite the Light House Building ;)

It's sort of mysterious. And I definitely like the addition of the colorful bicycles.
ReplyDeleteFascinating - I didn't watch the final of the Young Apprentice - must see if I can catch a repeat.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteIf I would be travelling to this city, I would certainly visit this house. Where is it? Could zou mail me the address. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,

It is on Red Lion Street in the city centre of Manchester Filip ;-)
DeleteWhat a BEAUTY !!!
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Tuesday.
She is really a beauty, but I am truly intrigued by the bicycles, I see one on the front of the building too, what a great installation
ReplyDeleteTalk about a portrait of contemporary idealized beauty. Big eyes, plump lips, Brigitte Bardot hair. The green skin not so much. What makes this piece extraordinary to me is the addition of the bicycles. I'm sure this piece stops people in their tracks. Thanks for contributing to Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome..I've chosen this building for my wedding photo session, just wondering if i should go there and talk to someone before we can do it.
