Adorning one of the walls of Blank Space* in Hulme is this mural of James Gandolfini which I assume was created after his death in June. I don't really watch much tv so didn't know any of the roles he played, but to pass away at the young age of 51 is a tragedy. It's the work of street artist Akse, a French-Vietnamese artist based in Manchester since 1997. See here too.Taking part in Monday Murals.

Nice picture of the head of the sopranos. I hope that the black hole not is mended as a bullet hole or perhaps it is just used for it. Its a kind of photographic tribute to him just passed away. I like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Too bad the hole.
ReplyDeleteThe hole is just a ventalation shaft ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love it but the hole made me think of a bullet also LOL!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting mural!

Love the expression on his face!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait, but that hole... exactly there...
ReplyDeleteLike the photo!
Like everyone else, my eye went right to the hole and thought "bullet".
ReplyDeleteI never watched the Sopranos but I did like James as an actor in other projects. Nice likeness.
ReplyDeleteNicely done and very timely!
ReplyDeleteNice find! I still haven't seen The Sopranos (even though I live in New Jersey!) - everything I heard about him indicated he was a kind man. No matter what, he died too young indeed.
ReplyDeletethat 'bullet hole' seems appropriately and yet inappropriately placed at the same time. if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeletehe was a rather larger than life character as Tony Soprano.
A very effective portrait. Captures the sadness in his eyes that so many actors mentioned after his death. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
