Another ABC Wednesday and "F" is for the Friends of London Road Fire Station. I've posted before about the campaign to save the building from 27 years of Britannia Hotels' neglect.
From Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 August (1.00-5.00 p.m.) the Heritage Hostage Exhibition at Unit 4A Piccadilly Place shows some of the artistic interpretations and photography of it. See too a Flickr page for views of this wonderful early 20C building.
Exhibition details also in the poster below- please support the event and follow Friends of London Road Fire Station on Twitter @ManFireStation.
I'll try and get there Thursday or Friday if I can

Love this one Chrissy. Hopefully it will be saved.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for sharing information about the exhibition which I wasn't aware of. The old fire station is one of the most endearing landmarks of Manchester and really deserves saving. Hopefully I will be able to get down to the exhibition before weekend.
ReplyDeleteIf this young boy is just one example of what the building has, then shame on Britannia Hotel and kudos to all of you for trying to save it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a building that really deserves restoration!!!My hubby is a retired firefighter/paramedic so the building is endearing to me. The figure of the girl is wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI hope it can be saved too, it's just such a beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteIt's very important to save one's heritage. I hope these buildings can be saved.

It is well worth saving. I hope those working to save and improve it are successful.
ReplyDeleteWent down this afternoon - the exhibition is a bit hard to locate - Bob took a few of us on a brief tour round the outside of the building and I took a few close-ups. The building's big problem is that it is owned by someone who doesn't want to do anything proper with it despite promising to but finding excuses not to do so year after year.
