City Daily Photo Theme Day: Façade
The City Daily Photo theme day topic for July is Façade. Here we have Orient House which is opulent and dripping in white marble-type architectural features (a white glazed neo-classical façade to be exact) at its front, ever since 1914, yet the sides are cheaper, rather grubby glass and metal- but they're still original features.
The Manchester History Net website tells you a little more.
An opulent facade Chrissy .... I guess the sides aren't as important .... as long as the interior is classy.
ReplyDeleteI think the inside has seen better days sadly... it's all rental property now too.
ReplyDeleteClassic Queen Anne front with a Mary Ann behind!
ReplyDeleteFascinating facade. Thanks for the details.
ReplyDeletewow, the sides just don't match!
ReplyDeleteCurious how the side of the building looks as it does and not like the front. Somehow I kind of like it, especially if those windows on the side look out to a beautiful view.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to see the change in architecture. It seems you've captured the real meaning of facade, it's really just a 'front' so to speak!:)
ReplyDeletePutting its best front forward!
ReplyDeleteThe glass is very surprising for that period! Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteSome buildings of this era expected to have neighbors so close that the sides would not be seen very well. At least this building does have a grand facade.
ReplyDeleteWow. That Facade was built to make a statement. "I'm strong, solid and here to stay"!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a true 'facade' Chrissy, showing it's face to the world..
ReplyDeleteTextbook photo of what facade means. A very good theme day post!
