City Daily Photo Theme Day: Façade

The City Daily Photo theme day topic for July is Façade. Here we have Orient House which is opulent and dripping in white marble-type architectural features (a white glazed neo-classical façade to be exact) at its front, ever since 1914, yet the sides are cheaper, rather grubby glass and metal- but they're still original features.

The Manchester History Net website tells you a little more.

  1. An opulent facade Chrissy .... I guess the sides aren't as important .... as long as the interior is classy.

  6. Curious how the side of the building looks as it does and not like the front. Somehow I kind of like it, especially if those windows on the side look out to a beautiful view.

  7. So interesting to see the change in architecture. It seems you've captured the real meaning of facade, it's really just a 'front' so to speak!:)

  10. Some buildings of this era expected to have neighbors so close that the sides would not be seen very well. At least this building does have a grand facade.
