ABC Wednesday: "K" is for Kenworthy's Buildings
I am unsure who Kenworthy was but this was built in 1902 on Bridge Street. An interesting description of the satyr mask and similar, less grotesque figures are given at Bob Speel's Victorian & Edwardian sculptures website.
It's another ABC Wednesday, featuring the letter "K".
In its won way beautiful! That reminds me that the drugstores in my childhood (in Holland) had a sculpted face very much like this one on their outside wall.
Ops...Scare figure! :) I like a lot the red texture and the windows!

I'm surprised that the do gooders haven't had the face removed.
ReplyDeleteQuite the building!

ReplyDeleteThere are some gems in cities when you look up at the skyline. I wonder what the original use was of the building was.
