#Peterloo remembered, 198 years on #tapestry

This year there are two events to commemorate the 1819 Peterloo massacre. On Sunday there was the usual marching in from all local regions into Peter's Field, just as the 60,000 to  100,000 did all those years ago. Then there were readings of the names of the dead who were killed by the yeomanry.

This was followed by a tapestry making event at the Friends Meeting House, see photos. The finished tapestry is on show today at 1pm, on Windmill St outside Manchester Central, followed by a procession to the steps of the town hall in Albert Square.

  1. It would appear to be well organized, and somber- which is entirely fitting.
